About Greg Charleston
Mr. Charleston serves as Managing Director at Areté Capital Partners, where he is engaged primarily in fiduciary responsibilities. He brings expertise in navigating complex situations by thoroughly understanding challenges and formulating actionable strategies grounded in accurate information and sound business judgment. Mr. Charleston has consistently demonstrated an aptitude for efficiently gathering precise data, conducting comprehensive assessments, and delivering clear, decisive guidance.
He is also the Founder and President of GA Charleston & Associates, a boutique firm providing financial and strategic advisory services to businesses, lenders, investors, and boards. With over 30 years of experience, he has advised clients across a wide range of industries, including manufacturing, healthcare, consumer products, transportation, construction, aerospace, real estate, and various service sectors. Previously, Mr. Charleston held the position of Managing Director at KPMG LLP within the Restructuring and Strategy Group and spent 17 years with Conway MacKenzie, Inc., where he led the Atlanta office and served on the firm’s Board of Directors.
Throughout his career, Mr. Charleston has held numerous interim executive roles, such as Chief Restructuring Officer, Chief Financial Officer, Chief Executive Officer, and Liquidating Trustee. He has successfully guided multiple Chapter 11 restructurings, operational turnarounds, and asset sales for both middle-market and large organizations. His extensive experience includes advising senior lending groups, private equity sponsors, boards of directors, and government entities on liquidity management, asset disposition, business viability, and fiduciary obligations.
